Walton County man wins in lottery scratch-off game

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. (WJHG) – A DeFuniak Springs man has won a million dollars from a lottery scratch-off ticket.

According to the Florida Lottery, Barrett Scott, 60, of DeFuniak Springs, claimed a $1 million top prize from a scratch-off ticket. Lottery officials say he chose to get his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $790,000.

They say Scott bought his ticket from DeFuniak Springs Food Mart on Highway 90 West. The retailer will get at bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

Lottery officials say scratch-off games make up 69 percent of ticket sales and generated more than $965 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund in the fiscal year of 2018-2019.
