LANSING, MI — A Monroe County man can’t believe his good fortune after he won a $4 million lottery jackpot for the second time in the last three years, Mark Clark, 50, of South Rockwood claimed a $4 million prize recently after he won on the $150,000,000 Payout instant game. That win follows a December 2017 win where he won playing a different game.
“You don’t think you’ll win millions once, and you definitely never think it would happen twice,” Clark said. “It’s hard to put into words exactly what I am feeling.”
Clark bought his most recent jackpot winner at the Ash Market, located at 11653 Telegraph Road in Carleton.
He doesn’t know exactly why or how he keeps winning such big jackpots, but he thinks the most recent win may have been the result of someone looking out for him.
“I scratched the ticket off in the store with a coin my dad gave me about 10 years ago,” Clark said. “We lost him about a year ago after some health struggles, and I can’t help but think maybe that lucky coin helped me win this.
“After the first win, I retired from my job and spent a lot of time fishing. My dad and I always used to fish together and have great memories of that, so this will help me keep fishing and enjoying time with my son and family.”
His 2017 win happened after he played the Millionaire’s Club instant game. Clark bought that ticket at the 127 Party Store, located at 4938 South Meridian Road in Hudson.
With his most recent win, Clark elected to receive his prize as a one-time lump-sum payment of $2.5 million, rather than the annuity.
“I’ve had a lot of ups and a lot of downs in my life, but everything is pretty amazing right now,” Clark said.

The last player from Michigan to win a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot was Cristy Davis of Waterford who won $70 million playing Powerball in February. With her winnings, Davis said she planned to buy a new house and car.
And while she was a lucky winner, it’s smart for players to check their tickets immediately as a winner worth $1 million sold in Hartland last year went unclaimed. The ticket was purchased at the Speedway in Hartland, but the winner never came forward to claim the prize. The money instead went to the state’s School Aid Fund.
